Viewed the house, really loved the style of it. The unique large slope of the roof, bedroom balcony, garden was huge, outside terrace was great. There was a lot of scope to make this a beautiful house.

However the house needed a LOT of work, everything was very dated. The layout wasn't great and the whole house essentially need gutting, it was a great starting canvas, in our opinion, but a lot of money to be spent. There was definitely scope to extend, particularly out the back, but this could get expensive quickly and the access wasn't great for construction. Just clearing the huge garden trees would have cost multiple thousands.
We started to look at the prices of other houses than were in good condition on the street and quickly realised at asking price that you could potentially end up spending more than what the house was worth.

In the end we were not in a position to bid and it was sold before we could be serious about an offer.
The sale did later fall through, and we found out it was because of the asbestos in the roof. Not uncommon in itself with this age of property, but the interesting thing was they had installed a new roof covering it all.
